Sun burnt in Bern

On our last full day in Freiburg we caught the tram and bus out to the foot of the Black Forest and caught an insane 20 minute cable car journey to the summit. The only bummer was that the rain had moved in and after a coffee and a slice of genuine Black Forest gateaux we only managed ten minutes of walking before deciding getting soaked to the bone with colds wasn´t a wise move. So, down on the cable car we went, through mist and fog so thick we couldn´t see ten metres ahead, and back to the hostel.

In the evening we had planned to check out an outdoor music fest but clearly the weather was going to determine otherwise. Instead, we had some grub and a few drinks before heading into town to a club. The theme of the night at this particular place was ´Black vs House´. In Germany they call Hip Hop ´Black Music´. We had a great night out and me and Mike made it back to the hostel around 4am. We think.

On Saturday we left Freiburg and made our way to the Swiss capital of Bern. It´s a nice little place and although there isn´t an awful lot to see it makes a great base for day trips elsewhere. The River Aare that runs through the city is one of the fastest flowing rivers I think I´ve ever seen. So fast infact that on a hot day, like Sunday, the locals jump in the river miles upstream and float down to off-ramp points. Seriously I don´t know how else to describe them - the signs actually say ´Last Exit 100m´and things like that!

Today we had a full day in Interlaken. This place is a real stunner and well worth a visit for any of you reading this that might travel through Switzerland at some point. We took a funicular train almost 5000ft to the top of a mountain and, being the el cheapos we are, didn´t want to pay for a return journey. So, with the girls kitted in jandals/flip flops we walked down the mountain. It took us two hours, with breaks inbetween, which was good time according to their signs!

The weather continues to be up and down at the moment but it was real hot today so hopefully that´ll stay with us when we travel to Innsbruck in Austria tomorrow morning. Sadly we´ll be without our American buddy Mike who left us today. He´s heading back home to the States before hitting the surf in Costa Rica. Thanks for the good times mate - we all enjoyed your company. See you on the Gold Coast!

Hopefully we can put some photos online at our next hostel. Hope you´re all well where ever you´re reading this.

Good to see you're enjoying summer guys. Try to save a couple of those pounds for Prague as there's plenty more highly respectable beer you can try once you get there...
