(Above: Me doing my Cousin-It impression...and Old Harry - the rock not the man! That's Dale's Uncle John)
The route back to the car went through some countryside and, conveniently, some more local culture…a pub, so we thought we’d better taste the local fruits!
On Wednesday Andrea (Dale’s cousin) took us and her twin babies out to Southampton for the afternoon. We stopped for a picnic on the way in the New Forest, lovingly prepared by Dale’s Nan. Chicken rolls, fruit, cashew nuts and cream donuts – yum! The babies loved their jam sandwiches and kindly shared them with the rug.
West Quay is the huge mall in Southampton and that was our next stop, for some retail therapy for Andrea before her wedding next week. With our Europe trip nearing I looked but it’s a bit harsh as I don’t really have any money to spend on luxury items such as new clothes.
We enjoyed our first ‘Shakeaway’ experience – a milkshake blended with your choice of confectionary from a very long list! I went for the Ferrero Rocher and Dale went for the Crème Egg which was second on my choice list so I was quite happy!
On the way back we had a small casualty involving too much speed around a roundabout and Andrea’s sunglasses sliding right across the dash and straight out the window onto the Motorway onramp! D’oh!
Looking forward to tomorrow night for Andrea’s Hen Night, 17 of us are going out for an Italian dinner and no doubt it’ll get rowdy.
