We were up in London for the weekend just gone to check out Phil & Cheryl's new pad and catch up with some familiar faces. We caught the last coach up to London on Friday night and got into the capital for around 10.30pm. Phil & Cheryl's brand spanking new apartment is in the Limehouse part of central london, about five or six miles from London Victoria.
Nice place and the area isn't too bad either - although the area around the tube station is kind of dodgy! We took it pretty easy that night, just knocking back a couple of drinks and watching some telly.
On Saturday the four of us had tickets to watch my team take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, about 30 minutes on the train from Victoria. As always the travelling mob of Owls fans (about 6000-7000 of them) were in fine voice and a winner five minutes from time made my day! The only grumble was the 20 minutes I wasted at half-time queuing for a beer, only to not get one when they shut the bar when I made the front of the line!
Afterwards we headed to Covent Gardens to catch up with Mike and Rachel. Covent Gardens is a really nice part of London and after a couple of drinks at some swanky wine bar we grabbed some dinner in a cosy little Italian place. The night was completed with, yes, more drinks in Mike's pick of choice 'old man style pub'.
It was great catching up with them but if any of you other London Kiwis are reading this - fear not, we didn't intentionally ignore you! We intend to return for another weekend sometime soon.
Absolutely stoked with our online purchase last night - somehow we have scored tickets to see Ricky Gervais live at The Apollo in London in September for £3 each! They're supposed to be
£30 pounds so I can only presume there was a mistake on the website's behalf. Yes!
